Privacy Policy
At Hearya ("we," "us," or "our"), your privacy is foundational to the experience we're building. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the Hearya iOS application (the "App"). By using Hearya, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
1. Information We Collect
Account Information
When you sign up, we use Sign in with Apple. Apple may share your name and a relay email address with us, depending on your preferences. We do not require, store, or have access to your Apple password.
Profile Preferences
During onboarding, you tell us who you usually talk to, your preferred vibe, and your preferred conversation depth. We use these preferences to personalize the questions you see in the App.
App Activity
We store the questions you like, skip, and generate, as well as any custom packs you create. This data is associated with your account so that your liked questions and pack history sync across your devices.
Optional Profile Data
You may optionally upload an avatar image and add a display name. Avatars are stored using Supabase Storage.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide and personalize the core App experience
- To generate AI-powered question packs tailored to your selections
- To sync your liked questions and pack history across your devices
- To improve the quality of question generation in aggregate (never tied to individual users)
- To communicate important service updates
3. AI-Generated Content
When you create a custom pack, your selections (audience, vibe, depth, setting, and any optional context you provide) are sent to OpenAI via Vercel's AI Gateway to generate questions. We do not include your name, account identifier, or any history from past sessions in these requests. OpenAI processes the request to generate questions and does not retain it for model training when accessed via the API.
4. Information Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share information only in these limited cases:
- Service Providers: We use Supabase (storage), Vercel (hosting), and OpenAI (AI generation) to operate the App. These providers are bound by their own privacy commitments and only process data necessary to operate their services.
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Hearya, our users, or others.
5. Data Retention and Deletion
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from the App's Settings screen. Account deletion is permanent and removes your liked questions, pack history, profile data, and avatar from our systems within 30 days.
6. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights including:
- Access to your personal data
- Correction of inaccurate data
- Deletion of your data
- Portability of your data
- Objection to certain processing

7. Children's Privacy
Hearya is not directed at children under 13 (or 16 in the EU). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
8. Security
We use industry-standard security practices including encrypted connections (TLS), encrypted databases, and JWT-based authentication. While no system is perfectly secure, we work continuously to protect your information.
9. International Users
Hearya operates from the United States. If you access the App from outside the U.S., your information may be transferred to and processed in the U.S., where data protection laws may differ from those in your country.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We'll notify you of material changes through the App or by email. Continued use of Hearya after changes means you accept the updated policy.
